Cleaner and Manager Wanted for the 2025 Winter Season
There are 2 positions on offer starting around 14/06/2025, where each position could be filled by either an individual or a couple:
The first position is on offer by Edski Lodge who is looking for a live on site Lodge Manager and Cleaner (individual or couple) at Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort.
The second position is on offer by Everest Lodge who is looking for a live on site Lodge Manager and Cleaner (individual or couple) at Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort.
Each position at Edski and Everest will include the the cleaning work where you will be living as well as cleaning 3-4 other properties including Du Nord, John Gardiner, SAAC, Skali, Tanjil and W.F Waters. Note that there will be a separate agreements between the contractor (you) and the other properties for their cleaning work, we are just a facilitator. The live in lodge manager and cleaner role pays around $300 per week and cleaning work at other properties is at $40 per hour with anywhere between 12 to 18 hours per week.
What is expected and what is provided as a live on site Lodge Manager
The individual or couple selected will be the live on site lodge managers in return for free board in your own room with a double bed, draws for clothing, tv and other amenities. Edski Lodge has a en-suite with shower and toiler, whilst Everest has toilets and shower a few meters down the hall from the room.
Gas, electricity, water, kitchen / cooking facilities with cutlery, crockery, glassware, cookware, refrigerator, freezer and pantry space are all included.
A complimentary gate entry and lift season pass will be provided along with free WIFI in the property.
We do not include food / meals.
The duties of a live on site Lodge Manager includes:
- Liaising with the bookings office and ensuring the booking information is updated on the property noticeboard.
- Being present during check in and check out Sunday to Friday to ensure that there are no problems
Edski check out is 4:00pm and check in is 5:30pm
Everest check out is 12:00pm and check in is 5:00pm - Assist and liaise between the bookings officer and the concerned party for any general problems and questions.
- Make sure all lodge facilities are serviceable and safe at all times.
- Keep the place clean and tidy.
- Confirm rooms are left clean and tidy, replace and wash protective bed linen (bottom sheet mattress protector as guests bring their own linen).
- Assist with Lodge day to day general operations and report any problems to the Bookings Officer
- Quick clean / tidy / replacement of consumables in the kitchen and bathroom as required.
- You must have access to a mobile or computer with internet access capabilities.
The main cleaning during the week is expected to total between 6 to 8 hours but can vary depending on how busy we are, generally we have a lot of guests arriving Friday afternoon to stay the weekend and then departing on Sunday afternoon and so the major cleans are Friday and Sunday.
The Contractor will be our Cleaner and will be paid $300 per week for the weeks between 30/06/2025 and 31/08/2025, note that some busy weeks such as during school holidays additional cleaning hours will be paid.
There may be work during June and September, this work will be paid at the per hour rate of $30 per hour.
If cleaning is not required for a week or period we will advise you.
We do not pay per person, the rate is total per hour or week. If a couple is engaged as our cleaners and they work a total of 2 hours each, then 4 hours will be paid but our per week rate remains the same regardless of an individual or a couple.
Cleaning duties generally will include:
- General clean of whole property
- Bedrooms – vacuum and tidy, empty bins, replace linen
- Bathrooms – Wipe surfaces, replace toilet paper, empty bins, mop.
- Kitchen – Sweep and Mop floor. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
- Dining and lounge areas – vacuum and sweep
- Wash linen
Cleaning of other properties
In addition to your role as on site lodge manager and cleaner, we have arranged cleaning work for you at 2-4 other properties.
A retainer of 3 hours ($120) will be paid by the properties you are allocated to clean weekly beginning 30/06/2025 until 31/08/2025, additional work over 3 hours each week will be charged at the standard $40 per hour rate (charged in 30 min intervals).
Any cleaning work carried out in June or September outside of the above dates will be paid at the standard per hour rate (charged in 30 min intervals).

Du Nord has an estimated 3-5 hours of cleaning per week. Cleaning will include:
- Common areas – vacuum and mop
- Bedrooms when guests have not done the right thing
- Kitchen – Sweep and Mop floor. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
- Bathrooms – Wipe surfaces, replace toilet paper, empty bins, mop.
John Gardiner has an estimated 6-8 hours of cleaning per week. Cleaning will include:
- General clean of whole property
- Bedrooms – vacuum and tidy, empty bins, replace linen
- Bathrooms – Wipe surfaces, replace toilet paper, empty bins, mop.
- Kitchen – Sweep and Mop floor. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
- Dining and lounge areas – vacuum and sweep
- Wash linen
SAAC has an estimated 3-5 hours of cleaning per week. Cleaning will include:
- Focused quick clean – twice a week
- Bedrooms – vacuum and tidy, empty bins, replace linen
- Bathrooms – Wipe surfaces, replace toilet paper, empty bins, mop.
- Kitchen – Sweep and Mop floor. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
- Dining and lounge areas – vacuum and sweep
Skali’s Lodge has an estimated 3-5 hours of cleaning per week. Cleaning will include:
- Focused quick clean – twice a week (3 hours on Monday and 1 hour on Friday)
- Kitchen – Sweep floor. Ensure food scraps are cleaned out of cupboards. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
- Fridges in Kitchen – Defrost as necessary, clean up spills and throw out old forgotten food.
- Bathrooms – Clean Shower, toilets, basins, mirrors, mop floors, empty bins and fill toilet roll holders.
- General quick clean of lounge and dining areas if needed
Tanjil Lodge has an estimated 6-10 hours of cleaning per week. Cleaning will include:
- General Full Clean – twice a week (Generally Friday and Sunday) if necessary.
- Upstairs Lounge – Vacuum Floor, Arrange Chairs.
- Kitchen – Sweep and Mop floor. Ensure food scraps are cleaned out of cupboards. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
- Fridges in Kitchen – Defrost as necessary, clean up spills and throw out old forgotten food.
- Bedrooms – Vacuum Floor (under beds as well), remove any rubbish and check protective linen for wet, stains and tears.
- Lower Hallway / Middle Level and common area – Vacuum floor.
- Bathrooms (3 off) – Clean Showers, toilets, basins, mirrors, mop floors, empty bins and fill toilet roll holders.
- Ski Room – Sweep dirt up and Mop floor.
- Drying Room – Sweep dirt up and Mop floor.
WF Waters has an estimated 3-5 hours of cleaning per week. Cleaning will include:
- Focused quick clean – twice a week
- Bedrooms – vacuum and tidy, empty bins, replace linen
- Bathrooms – Wipe surfaces, replace toilet paper, empty bins, mop.
- Kitchen – Sweep and Mop floor. Take rubbish and recycling to depot after weekend and as required.
- Dining and lounge areas – vacuum and sweep
Past experience has shown that with the Cleaning workload and Lodge Manager commitments, there are several hours free during the day for enjoying the resort.
The Lodge Manager and Cleaner will be commissioned to start around 14/06/2025 for induction in preparation for the school holidays.
The work on offer will be between the start date above and September, generally there is work until mid September but sometimes it can finish up early or later. This work is not guaranteed and can be cancelled at any time dependent on snow falls and guest bookings. We endeavor to look after our managers and so if things are getting quiet we will have a discussion, arrangements can be made if you need to continue on with us for a period after cleaning and manager work ends.
Note that we will help you setup as a contractor to carry out the work described above, we do not employ you directly for this work as most of the properties are not for profit associations or co-operatives.
